While Sentinels missed out on Masters Copenhagen, they are not out of the 2022 season just yet. The upcoming VCT NA Last Chance Qualifier in August looms large, and the team has since retooled its roster with Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek and Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro.

The North American esports organization took some time away from practicing to answer fan questions in a recent video, where Shahzeb “ShahZaM” Khan and the boys in red weighed in on who the top team in Valorant is.

While their picks were hardly unanimous, the team agreed that OpTic Gaming and Paper Rex are the ones who are ahead of everyone else. The pair have already made it into the top four at Masters Copenhagen, where they will face off in the upper bracket final.

Right at the start of the conversation, Shroud decided to excuse himself since he had just returned to the competitive scene after four years of being a full-time streamer and content creator.

ShahZaM and Zellsis gave their vote to fellow North American squad and Masters Reykjavik 2022 champion OpTic as the best Valorant team. However, ShahZaM added that OpTic might not be at the top of their game right now, seeing as they almost lost to DRX in the upper bracket semifinals at Masters Copenhagen.

On the other hand, head coach Shane “Rawkus” Flaherty was partial toward APAC representative Paper Rex, a team known for their unbridled aggression and fearless teamplay. Paper Rex have already taken down Guild Esports and Fnatic on their way to the upper bracket final, an impressive show of consistency after their performance at Reykjavik.

“They’re the most creative team, and the hardest to play against,” he said. “I think they’re going to win Master Copenhagen. You can’t counter their style too.”

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo agreed that Paper Rex are the team to watch out for at Masters Copenhagen. “They have their own style, and if they’re feeling it, they are really hard to stop,” he said. “They’re my favorite team to watch because they’re just wild.”

OpTic and Paper Rex will face one another in Masters Copenhagen’s upper bracket final on July 22, 11:00 p.m. GMT+8 | 8:00 a.m. PT | 3:00 p.m. GMT.
