All eyes were on Geek Fam when they announced they had acquired MPL PH superstar Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy. The midlaner turned roamer has played competitively since MPL PH Season 4, and boasts a title win with Sunsparks in Season 5.

On the other hand, Geek Fam has failed to reach the playoffs for six seasons now. The arrival of Baloyskie and another Filipino import in Jaymark “Janaaqt” Lazaro has led many to believe they will finally be able to reach the playoffs this season.

However, even with the addition of two superstar imports, the team is still struggling to find wins. In the first half of the season, they have only won one series against Rebellion Zion.

In a podcast hosted by Jonathan Liandi, Former EVOS Legends stars Gustian “REKT” and Maxhill “Antimage” Leonardo talked about Geek Fam’s struggles, including their honest thoughts on the new Filipino star.

The former ONIC PH player is known this season for his Franco, Selena, and Natalia picks. While these heroes are great in the early parts of the game, they fall flat in the late game due to their skillset and scaling, especially in the tank jungle meta.

“Baloyskie’s macro skills are not enough,” Antimage said. “His mechanics are lacking compared to Indonesian tankers Like Julian “LeoMurphy” Murphy, who is a monster on Chou and Khufra.”

REKT doubled down on Antimage’s comment. “I’m a macro player too, right? Baloy has an average macro,” he added. He is mechanically good, but his macro skills are bad.”

Geek Fam currently sits at a 2-8 record (8th place) in the regular season. With only four games remaining on their schedule, Baloyskie and the rest of the squad need to step up if they want to qualify for the playoffs.
