Franco mains are on cloud nine right now.

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) has been ongoing for a few weeks, and it’s giving us a glimpse of the current Mobile Legends: Bang Bang meta.

From the 2 roam meta becoming prevalent this season, to the resurgence of Lylia and Gloo, there’s no shortage of action in the Land of Dawn this season. Even so, there’s still one hero that surprised a lot of fans when it became apparent that he’s now a high priority pick this season, and it’s none other than Franco.

Here are three reasons why the Frozen Warrior is now a common pick in pro play.

He is the perfect counter to overpowered junglers in the current meta

With the sudden of rise of Fanny and Lancelot in the current meta, Franco rose to popularity.

These jungle heroes rely on their blue buffs in the early game to be relevant. Franco’s Iron Hook can disrupt the enemy jungle at level one, for it has the ability to pull the buff outside its range and reset its health. This delaying tactic is crucial in the early game, especially against Fanny and Lancelot.

The downfall of the nice one, baby meta

What was once the most popular meta in pro play, popularized by Blacklist International last year, vanished this season. There are a number of factors as to why the ‘nice one, baby’ meta isn’t as prevalent these past few months, but part of it has something to do with Favor’s nerf in patch 1.6.50.

Nonetheless, it opened the opportunity for other roamers such as Lolita, Hylos, and even Franco to comeback this season. Tanks who can soak a lot of damage and have tremendous team fighting capabilities now dominate the current meta.

His reworked passive effect is deadly

Franco received a buff on his passive, Wasteland Force, in patch 1.6.42. After not taking damage for five seconds, Franco gains one stack per second. Each stack increases the damage of his next skill by 5%.

This is a huge improvement, and makes him much more lethal in the early game. His Iron Hook can now secure hero kills and even steal buffs if timed right.

Franco is an exciting hero to watch in pro play, and expect more teams to pick the him in the following weeks.
