It’s official.

ONIC Esports confirmed in a press conference today, July 4, that they have acquired Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol and Coach Denver “Yeb” Miranda from their sister team, ONIC PH. Both will compete in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 10 (MPL ID Season 10).

This is the first time an Indonesian MPL squad imported a player from MPL PH.

Coach Yeb is the second Filipino coach to join MPL ID, after Francis “Duckey” Glindro led EVOS Legends two years ago.

According to the 16-year-old, he will continue playing his main role. “I will play as the jungler for ONIC Esports at MPL ID Season 10,” he said.

He will compete alongside Gilang “SANZ”, Muhammad “Butsss” Satrya Sanubari, Nicky “Kiboy” Fernando, and Adriand Larsen “Drian” Wong once the 10th season begins.

ONIC’s strategic coach Ronaldo “Aldo” Aditya Lieberth, who was at the press conference, expressed his delight at Kairi’s arrival. He mentioned they will be announcing the starting five soon.

Both Coach Yeb and Kairi were pillars of the yellow hedgehog squad when they successfully placed second at MPL PH Season 8 and qualified for the M3 World Championship. They were phenomenal in Moonton’s biggest tournament of that year, dominating the upper bracket before succumbing to Blacklist International in the grand final of the tournament.

ONIC PH wasn’t able to replicate their success the following season however, after they placed fourth at MPL PH Season 9, and failed to secure a slot at the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2022 (MSC 2022).

After winning MPL ID Season 8 and ONE Esports MPL Invitational 2021, Indonesian counterparts ONIC Esports found themselves in a slump after finishing 9th-12th place at the M3 World Championship. They then failed to defend their title against RRQ Hoshi at MPL ID Season 9, but still secured a slot at MSC 2022.

However, they had another disappointing performance in the regional tournament, bowing out in the group stage with a 0-1-1 record.
