LCK team DWG KIA is looking to rebuild its roster in the 2022-2023 offseason.

The Korean esports organization announced the departure of Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil, Noh “Burdol” Tae-yoon, athletic director Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun, coach Lee “Zefa” Jae-min, and head coach Yang “Daeny” Dae-in.

The team placed fourth in the LCK 2022 Summer regular season with a 10-8 record, qualifying for the Summer playoffs. DK started their run strong with a victory over KT Rolster, but faced an early exit after losing 3-2 to LCK 2022 Spring champions T1 in the semifinals.

The 2020 world champions still had one more chance to attend Worlds 2022 through the LCK Regional Finals. DK won against Liiv SANDBOX in the first round, qualifying as the region’s third seed in the Worlds Group Stage.

Nuguri and the boys breezed through the Group Stage with a 5-1 record, qualifying for the Knockout Stage alongside LPL’s JD Gaming. But the team was eliminated in the quarterfinals after a 3-2 loss against LCK 2022 Summer champs Gen.G.

Top laners Nuguri and Burdol have opted to become free agents. Nuguri, who was part of the team’s 2020 championship squad, briefly returned to the organization for the Summer split, reuniting with former teammates Heo “ShowMaker” Su and Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu.

Zefa and Daeny mutually terminated their contracts, while kkOma left the organization due to contract expiration.

All three members spent time in the role of DK’s head coach throughout the past three years. Zefa led the team to its first world championship at Worlds 2020. KkOma acted as head coach in 2021 with Daeny succeeding him for the 2022 season.

“We will remember the historic moments we’ve made together and appreciate his effort and contribution to the team. We wish him the best of luck in the future,” wrote DWG KIA about Daeny in a tweet.

The organization has also announced the departure of AD carry deokdam, who joined the team for the 2022 season.
