Mobile Legends: Bang Bang superstars Johnmar “OhMyV33nus” Villaluna and Danerie James “Wise” Del Rosario are no strangers to fame.

The pair, also known as the V33Wise duo, led Blacklist International to back-to-back MPL PH titles in Season 7 and 8. Their greatest achievement was winning the M3 World Championship crown last year.

Despite their success and popularity in the competitive MLBB scene, the duo said they still receive hate comments on a daily basis, some of which greatly affected their mental health.

OhMyV33nus reveals that he and Wise cried multiple times because of hate comments

OhMyV33nus and Wise were invited as speakers on the first day of CONQuest Festival 2022, a gaming and pop culture convention held at SMX Arena in the Philippines over the July 23 and 24 weekend.

Aside from sharing about their experience as esports athletes to thousands in attendance, the pair also played a 1v1 show match and answered questions from fans.

When a fan asked OhMyV33nus how important is mental health for esports players, the 28-year-old opened up about his experience in dealing with online haters, and how it has affected his mental health.

“Even though you don’t talk too much, do good things, or stay to yourself, there is always someone there who will attack you online,” V33nus said.

He also mentioned that he and Wise avoid social media during game days. “We had a lot of moments when we cried because of hate comments,” he added.

And it’s not just toxic fans. Last year, Smart Omega’s Duane “Kelra” Pillas made homophobic remarks about OhMyV33nus and Wise. MPL PH suspended the gold laner for two weeks and fined him a month’s worth of salary.

Since then, Blacklist International’s roamer said positive changes have happened.

“We now have more supporters than bashers,” V33nus said. “Now, messages of support have overwhelmed the hate comments.”
