European esports organization Team Liquid has officially qualified for the upcoming ONE Esports Singapore Major.

Team Liquid, Tundra Esports, and OG finished with the same 3-4 record after six weeks of competition in DPC Europe upper division. This forced the three teams to play a series of round-robin decider games for the final spot at the Major from the European region.

All three won a game during the first set tiebreaker matches, which forced another series. But, during the second set of matches, Team Liquid bested Tundra Esports and two-time TI champion OG for the final spot at the Singapore Major.

Team Liquid had an arduous six weeks in the upper division. Liquid won their opening match against Vikin.gg, but then lost to Team Nigma four days later. They bounced back by defeating High Coast Esports during the second week of competition. They lost to Tundra Esports again, however, in the following week.

Team Liquid managed to upset OG during the fifth week. But they would drop to a 3-4 record after losing to Alliance in their final upper division match.

Team Liquid has shown time after time they can compete in Europe, which is arguably the most talent-filled region in professional Dota 2. During their most recent matches, they’ve improved in their hero drafts by pairing strong hero combos like Huskar with Oracle, or Storm Spirit with Keeper of the Light.

Liquid’s squad also leveled up their in-game decision making and team fight executions, which makes them the most dangerous team that will compete in the Singapore Major’s wild card.

Team Liquid’s best performance last year was when the team won ESL One Germany 2020 by putting together an incredible lower bracket run. This earned them wins over Team Nigma, Team Secret, and Natus Vincere.

Team Liquid’s main strength is their camaraderie and trust in one another. This is the same squad that committed one of the biggest blunders in professional Dota 2, when team captain Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi misclicked Gyrocopter during their elimination match against Royal Never Give Up.

The mistake, however, only brought the squad closer together. Even after signing with Team Liquid after the post-TI9 roster shuffle, iNSaNiA and the boys still have the utmost trust in each other. This is a dynamic which makes them dangerous opponents.

Team Liquid’s core players Maximillian “Qojqva” Brocker, Michael “miCKe” Vu, and Samuel “Boxi” Svahn have proven they can compete against the best players in Europe. Together with the team’s playmaker, Tommy “Taiga” Le, and support specialist iNSaNiA, Team Liquid is poised to have an exceedingly successful run in the upcoming Singapore Major.

Team Liquid joins Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Alliance, Team Nigma, Fnatic, Neon Esports, T1, Invictus Gaming, Beastcoast, and Thunder Predator as the organizations to qualify into the ONE Esports Singapore Major, which will take place from March 27 to April 4, 2021.
