European esports organization and TI7 champions, Team Nigma has qualified for the ONE Esports Singapore Major.

Team Nigma earned their spot at the Singapore Major when Team Liquid lost to Alliance in the final week of the DPC Europe upper division. Team Liquid’s 3-4 record meant that Nigma’s own 4-3 match score was enough to advance them into the Major. Team Nigma now has a wild card berth for the ONE Esports Singapore Major.

Team Nigma’s upper division started out great with impressive wins over Alliance and Team Liquid during the first week. But Nigma lost to Team Secret, OG, and was upset by Vikin.gg midway through the season. Nigma then bounced back, defeating Tundra Esports and High Coast Esports, which resulted in a third-place finish in the upper division standings.

Team Nigma started 2020 with an incredible win at the WePlay! Bukovel Minor. Nigma then had a disappointing run at the DreamLeague Season 13 Leipzig Major, but quickly bounced back to defeat Team Secret in the WePlay! Mad Moon tournament.

With the DPC season halted by the COVID-19 pandemic, Team Nigma recuperated with the squad’s team captain, Kuro “KuroKy” Takhasomi recovering from an injury. This meant that coach Roman “rmN-” Paley took over the position 5 support role. Nigma went on to win the OGA Dota PIT Season 2 with rmN-, before KuroKy rejoined the squad for EPIC League Season 2.

Team Nigma’s roster is also filled with superstar Dota 2 talents like Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi as their hard carry, Ivan “MinD_ContRoL” Ivanov in the offlane, and Maroun “GH” Merhej as a stellar position 4 support. There’s also Aliwi “w33” Omar who has adapted his midlane hero pool for the 7.28 patch meta.

Team Nigma is no stranger to lower bracket runs. In fact, they won The International 2017 (back when the squad was still with Team Liquid) with an unbelievable 10-match win streak. This makes Nigma one of the most dangerous teams in the wild card for the Major.

Only one roster spot remains in the European region following Team Secret, Alliance, and Team Nigma qualifying for the ONE Esports Singapore Major. The last match of the DPC EU upper division between OG and Team Secret will decide who advances. If OG wins, they will take the final spot. But, if they lose, OG, Team Liquid, and Tundra Esports will have a three-way tiebreaker match due to their 3-4 match record.

Team Nigma joins Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, and Alliance as the organizations to qualify for the ONE Esports Singapore Major, which is set to take place from March 27 to April 4.
