Evil Geniuses’ move to South America is now official.
EG has signed former Thunder Awaken players Crhistian “Pakazs” Casanova, Farith “Matthew” Huamancaja, and Jose “Pandaboo” Hernandez, who are coming in to replace the organization’s long-standing North American Dota 2 roster.
To complete the team, EG also picked up two ex-beastcoast staples Jean “Chris Luck” Salazar and Adrián “Wisper” Dobles.
The announcement comes nearly a month after EG’s 9th-12th finish at The International 2022, marking the organization’s first all-South American roster.

Evil Geniuses ushers in new era for Dota 2 division with all-SA roster
Pakazs, Matthew, and Pandaboo were integral to Thunder Awaken’s success in the team’s DPC 2022 run, where they won all three Division 1 Tours in the South American region.
The trio was also part of the Thunder Awaken roster that earned a joint-fifth finish at TI11 – the highest placement for a SA team in the history of The International.
“One of my biggest dreams as a Dota 2 professional player was always to be able to work for a well-known Tier 1 organization in the world of esports,” tweeted Matthew. “Today, one of my dreams came true together with four incredible players whom I respect and admire very much.”
Meanwhile, Chris Luck and Wisper are taking a big step forward in their careers by joining EG. The two SA stars were part of the longest-running roster in Dota 2 history, having played with Héctor “K1” Rodríguez, Elvis “Scofield” Peña, and Steven “StingeR” Mamani in 449 pro games until beastcoast’s roster change after TI11.
Also making the move to EG is former Thunder Awaken coach Juan David “Vintage” Angulo Nicho, along with ex-beastcoast manager Vitória “Guashineen” Otero.

Evil Geniuses won the last Division I regional league in the DPC 2022 season. The win grants them a direct invite to next year’s first Tour for the North American region.
However, since the organization has decided to move its Dota 2 team to South America, it will have to acquire a Division I slot for the Winter regional league in SA. The other option the team has is to compete in the open qualifiers or make their way up from Division II.
