Geek Fam swept Alter Ego in the fifth week of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Indonesia Season 10 (MPL ID Season 10) regular season, finally breaking their three-game losing streak.

Geek Fam started the series on a high note after a flawless 10-0 kill score in the first game, thanks to the combined efforts of PH imports Allen “Baloyskie” Baloy’s Grock and Jaymark “Janaaqt” Lazaro’s Fanny.

In the second game, EXP laner Luke locked in Fredrinn, the first time the new tank hero was picked in the tournament.

Unlike the rout in the first game, the second game was a much closer back-and-forth affair. However, The Rogue Appraiser immediately made his presence felt, soaking up all the damage and initiating the game-winning team fight late into the match to secure the 2-0 victory.

Geek Fam only had a slight tower and gold advantage 13 minutes into the game. Alter Ego were defending the high ground when they caught Luke split pushing by himself deep into the bottom lane. Alter Ego’s Julian “LeoMurphy” Murphy’s Chou then activated his Conceal Blessing in an attempt to get the easy pick-off.

Luke noticed the Conceal and tried to escape to the jungle, but LeoMurphy flickered in and activated the Way of the Dragon, kicking him back toward three members of Alter Ego.

Luke was seemingly done for. He was on the receiving end of damage inflicted by LeoMurphy’s Chou, Rafly Alvareza “Pai” Sudrajat’s Esmeralda, Muhammad Julian “Udil” Ardiansyah’s Valentina, and Eldin Rahadian “Celiboy” Putra’s Paquito in the tri-bush in the bottom lane jungle area.

But he miraculously survived the team fight, showing just how incredibly tanky the hero can be. He activated Fredrinn’s Brave Assault to reposition himself to a tighter area before casting Energy Eruption for the defensive stats boost. He then used Brave Assault again to jump over the wall toward the bottom lane.

By this time, Janaaqt’s Fanny was already in the bottom lane, trying to back Luke up. Janaaqt secured a double kill, taking down Esmeralda and Valentina and forcing the remaining Alter Ego players to retreat to base. At the end of the fight, Fredrinn still had about 20% of his HP left, a testament to the new hero’s resilience once he gets his core items.

This sudden shift in momentum changed the tide of the game. Geek Fam secured two base turrets and the Enhanced Lord, eventually pushing all the way through the midlane to win the series.

In a post-match press conference, the rookie, who played for Geek Fam Jr in MDL in Season 5, talked about why he picked the Rogue Appraiser.

“I think Fredrinn is strong and quite easy to use, especially against melee heroes,” he said. “Maybe his only drawback is his weak laning phase.”

Despite dealing less damage compared to other EXP laners, Luke agreed that Fredrinn’s strength lies in his skill set, specifically his Energy Eruption and Brave Assault, which can stun multiple enemies in quick succession.

“This hero has a big impact in team fights,” he added.

Geek Fam will next face defending champion RRQ Hoshi on Saturday, September 17, at 1 p.m. GMT+8. Follow ONE Esports on Facebook for more Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports news and updates.
