The League of Legends EMEA Championship has officially welcomed two new teams to its franchise — Team Heretics and KOI.

Team Heretics replaces Misfits Gaming after buying their LEC slot earlier this year, while KOI is Rogue’s rebrand following their “strategic alliance”.

Prior to their participation in the EMEA league, Team Heretics and KOI competed in Liga de Videojuegos Profesional SuperLiga (LVP SL). Heretics were champions of the LVP SL Summer 2022 and the European Masters Summer 2022 Main Event.

Both teams have not yet revealed their starting rosters for the LEC Winter 2023, however, a few reports hint at their prospects.

Heretics is reportedly signing former G2 Esports jungler Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski and DetonatioN FocusMe’s top laner Shunsuke “Evi” Murase. The two pro players were seen hanging out around Japan during the offseason.

Norweigian player Jakob “Jackspektra” Gullvag Kepple is set to make his debut in the EMEA league as Heretics’ bot laner. The rookie helped the team claim their championship titles this year at the LVP SL Summer 2022 and the European Masters Summer 2022 Main Event against Giants and Team BDS Academy.
