The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) held its Media Day for LCK Spring 2023 at the LoL Park in Seoul before the start of the season.

Representatives from the ten teams shared their thoughts for the upcoming season and answered questions regarding their expectations.

As per tradition, they were also asked to predict the winner of the upcoming season, excluding their own team.

According to the group, Dplus KIA and T1 are the two teams to watch out for.

They are perceived to be the strongest two teams in LCK Spring 2023

Five teams — DRX, Hanwha Life Esports, KT Rolster, Kwangdong Freecs, and Liiv Sandbox — predicted Dplus KIA to win LCK Spring 2023.

KT Rolster’s support player, Son “Lehends” Si-woo, explained that he chose them because the roster looks extremely strong.

Dplus KIA has kept most of its roster intact, including jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su, and support Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu. They added former DRX bot laner and reigning Worlds 2022 champion, Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu, and former NS Red Force’s top laner, Kim “Canna” Chang-dong.

On the other hand, Brion, Dplus KIA, Gen.G, and Nongshim Red Force predicted T1 would win LCK Spring 2023. Heo “Showmaker” Su commented that the team members have not changed since last year, and that they are performing well in scrims.

T1, the Worlds 2022 runner-up, retained its entire roster. Head coach Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong expressed his disappointment with the team’s performance last year, where they reached the finals of the Mid-Season Invitational, the LCK Summer, and Worlds, but failed to perform in the final moments, losing out on the championship.

Bengi believes that things will be different this year. “Though we missed the opportunity to compete at Worlds 2018 in Korea, we now have the chance to make it happen. Our players possess great skill. With four spots available, I am very optimistic,” he stated.

Interestingly, T1 was the only team that predicted Gen.G to win LCK Spring 2023. Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok simply stated, “I believe Gen.G will win.”

Faker also chose Gen.G last year while the other five teams chose DAMWON KIA at last year’s 2022 Media Day event. Spring, however, was won by T1 where they defeated Gen.G 3-1. In Summer 2022, Gen.G got their revenge, sweeping T1 3-0.
