The “no takebacks” rule was not in effect in North America during the 2021/2022 Dota Pro Circuit season.

Ahead of Tour 3, Evil Geniuses will once again feature Tal “Fly” Aizik as its captain and hard support. Fly was initially let go in the offseason in favor of former OG support Jesse “JerAx” Vainikka, who the team officially parted ways with last week.

EG announced their captain’s return with a cheeky video, editing a Photoshop file of his previous departure announcement.

During his absence from EG, the 29-year-old did not sit idle. He played the first Tour as part of Talon Esports, briefly took on a role as TSM’s coach, then moved on to a talent role at the ESL One Stockholm Major.

In the run-up to Tour 3, EG is still in a position to directly qualify for TI11 in Singapore, despite a disappointing last-place finish at the Stockholm Major.

Sitting at 14th in this year’s DPC rankings, the EG squad might just need to muster a solid first-place North American campaign to cement their ticket. A good showing at the Major would then all but confirm their participation, as well as bode well for their ability to quickly adapt to this hasty roster change.
