Malaysia has yet to win in any international Mobile Legends: Bang Bang tournament. However, the reigning MPL MY champions, HomeBois, are hell-bent on rewriting the history.

Following their triumph in MPL MY Season 12, HomeBois are set to compete in the highly anticipated ONE Esports Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Invitational 2023 (MPLI 2023).

Without a doubt, their goal is to earn their country’s first-ever trophy on the world stage.

HomeBois are relatively new to the international scene, with MPLI only marking their second major tournament appearance. Nonetheless, they have a veteran player, Mohamad Zul Hisham “Xorn” Bin Mohd Noor, leading the charge.

Xorn brings a wealth of experience to the squad, having competed in every MPL season and several international competitions, including the MLBB Southeast Asia Cup 2019 and the last two editions of the Southeast Asian Games.

His addition to the team this season had an immediate impact, as he played a crucial role in their championship run with his exceptional performance in the roaming position.

Furthermore, the esteemed tank Chou user earned a spot in the Dream Team and was named the Playoffs Most Valuable Player, cementing his status as one of Malaysia’s finest roamers.

But it’s not solely the Xorn show. The entire HomeBois squad is a force to be reckoned with, displaying an unwavering spirit throughout the MPL MY Season 12 playoffs when they were considered underdogs.

They pulled off a stunning sweep against former champion Team HAQ in a win-or-go-home series, followed by triumphs over the top-seeded RSG Malaysia and the emerging Selangor Red Giants in the upper bracket.

In the grand final against the Season 8 winner and three-time finalist Team SMG, they demonstrated their resilience by staging a gutsy comeback win in game one, and a miraculous base defense in game four.

Even though SMG made a spirited rally to level the series, HomeBois maintained remarkable composure, executed their strategy flawlessly, and ultimately dominated the final game to clinch their first MPL title in five seasons.

The resounding victory also secured their qualification for both MPLI and M5 World Championship.
