The ESL One Stockholm Major continues to delight and disappoint—depending on which team you support—on day two.

Group A is starting to see a clear separation between its best teams, T1 and Tundra Esports—both with 5-1 records—from the rest of the pack. Meanwhile, Group B continues to be a wide-open race, with every team still within touching distance of each other.

Team Liquid recovers with innovative strategies

Team Liquid reversed their fortunes in Group B after an upset loss to Thunder Awaken on the first day of the Major.

On day two, Liquid’s versatility and unorthodox hero pools were on full display. They pulled out Visage in both mid and offlane. Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg was on his signature offlane Enigma, alongside a classic Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi strategy with a Keeper of the Light-Bristleback combo en route to a 3-1 day two.

While no Group B team is in danger of elimination after Mind Games was disqualified from the tournament, there’s still a lot to fight for. Finishing top four in the group stage guarantees an upper bracket slot, while fifth and sixth will start in the lower bracket.

Liquid, now with five wins, pulled themselves ahead of Thunder Awaken and TSM to nestle into joint-second with two other teams.

OG, who ended day one of the group stage top of Group A with a 3-1 record, lost all four games today against T1 and Tundra Esports.

The Western European squad, now with five losses, is joint fourth in their group. Unfortunately, this puts them close to relegation status—though Evil Geniuses are still at the bottom with a 1-5 record.

OG, who’s missing their captain and head coach due to visa issues, have two series left to play against EG and BetBoom. All three teams, as of day two, are in the bottom half of the group, which made their head-to-head even more important for eventual seeding.

Best game of day two: Team Spirit vs Thunder Awaken game two

In an increasingly rare matchup between two classic hard carry heroes, Crhistian Antony “Pakazs” Savina Casanova and Illya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk duked it out on Terrorblade and Medusa respectively, keeping toe-to-toe with each other throughout the close game.

Meanwhile, each team’s supporting cast brought out some immense performances to enable their carries, in immaculate team fights and next level plays that kept the winner impossible to guess.

Fans can watch the Major live on ESL ONE’s official Twitch stream from May 12 to 22.

During the group stages, two additional streams will also be broadcasting. You can find Stream B and Stream C here.
