The Demon Slayer anime is drawing closer with the To the Swordsmith Village movie set to release in February and Season 3 airing in April.

The battle between the Demon Slayer Corp and Muzan Kibutsuji’s elite group of Upper Rank demons is heating up, which is why protagonist Tanjiro Kamado is going to need help from two new Hashira in Season 3.

The Mist Hashira, Muichiro Tokito, and the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji finally get to showcase their skills and abilities against the vicious and cold-blooded villains in the Swordsmith Village arc.

Spoiler warning: This article will recap the finale of Season 2 and discuss the new Hashira the show will introduce at the start of the Demon Slayer 2023 movie and Season 3.

The final battle of Season 2’s Entertainment District arc saw Tanjiro Kamado, Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Inosuke Hashibira, with the help of the Sound Hashira Tengen Uzui, triumph over Upper Rank Six demon siblings Gyutaro and Daki.

Before the epic finale of the Entertainment District Act, the leader of the Demon Slayer Corp, Kagaya Ubuyashiki, explained that, for a hundred years, they had never been able to defeat an Upper Rank demon.

Even the Hashira, the Corps’ most powerful warriors and the last line of defense against demons, have only defeated Lower Rank demons.

Who is Muichiro Tokito?

Muichiro is the youngest of the Hashira at only 14 years old. He is considered a warrior prodigy after being promoted to the Hashira rank only two months after joining the Corp.

He is the most skilled Mist Breathing user of his generation. Despite his short stature and lean muscular build, Muichiro is one of the strongest warriors in Kagaya’s elite group. Similar to the other characters in the Demon Slayer series, Muichiro endured a heart-rending and traumatic past that shaped his personality.

Muichiro first appeared in episode 22, titled “Master of the Mansion,” from Season 1 of the anime. When Tanjiro was being trialed by Kagaya and the other Hashira, Muichiro acted aloof and detached while the former’s life was on the line. He also has childish tendencies, which we will get to see more of in Season 3.

Who is Mitsuri Kanroji?

In contrast to Muichiro, Mitsuri is the most gleeful Hashira in the Corps. Yet despite her cheerful demeanor, she is a powerful and skilled combatant.

Mitsuri completed her Final Selection trial after just six months of training, which the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, considered exceptional. Using her superhuman flexibility, Mitsuri’s fighting style becomes difficult to decipher.

She uses her thin and limber Nichirin sword to cut her opponents down, similar to how Rhythmic Olympic gymnasts twirl their ribbons.

Mitsuri also first appeared in episode 22 of Season 1. As one of the highest-ranking members of the Corps, she typically chooses to see the brighter side of life.

Muichiro and Mitsuri’s skills will be on full display in the Demon Slayer 2023 movie and Season 3’s Swordsmith Village arc.

The two Hashira will aid Tanjiro in his quest to save his sister, Nezuko Kamado, and defeat Muzan Kibutsuji, along with his Twelve Demon Moons.
