Veteran Billy “Z4pnu” Alfonso’s dream of Execration winning the trophy after close calls in previous seasons is now an inch closer to reality.

Execration is now one series away from reaching the grand final after dethroning M2 world champion Bren Esports in a reverse sweep at the third round in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League PH Season 7 lower bracket playoffs.

Execration’s cinderella run against defending champions Bren Esports

Bren Esports, who is the favourite to win this season, looked dominant after gaining a 2-0 lead.

However, a game-winning Tyrant’s Revenge-flicker combo from Joshua “Ch4knu” Mangilog’ Khufra at the 50-minute mark gave the team a lifeline in the series.

Bren Esports was still ahead, but the game three win ultimately put the momentum on Execration’s side.

This was evident when Execration dominated the fourth game with an 18-5 kill score on the back of Duane “Kelra” Pillas’ astounding Harith performance, finishing with a 7/0/7 KDA and MVP honours.

The last game was no different, as the Z4pnu-led squad maintained its winning ways with the help of the Nice One, Baby strategy involving Ch4knu’s Rafaela, Patrick “E2MAX” Caidic’s Mathilda, and Kiel Vj “Kielvj” Hernandez’ Claude.

The game started out slow, but the continuous pressure from Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno’s signature Lancelot pick ultimately sealed the deal for the rising stars in a surprising turn of events.

Execration’s post-game interview

In a post-game interview, E2MAX commended Ch4knu for making big plays, which eventually led to the series win.

Zp4nu also added that the win was bittersweet, as both teams formed a close bond this season.

“To tell you the truth, Bren Esports is our scrimmage partner. What Ribo (player of Bren Esports) really wanted was for both our teams to face in the grand final,” he said.

Execration went on to defeat MPL PH champions Aura PH, and is now facing Blacklist International in the grand final.
