Video game developer miHoYo’s revenue continues to break financial records, and 2022 was no exception.

The company made an estimated US$3.83 billion profit during the fiscal year 2022, with an actual profit of US$2.26 billion according to a report by Guangming Daily, a Chinese newspaper publication.

To clearly demonstrate just how big this milestone is for miHoYo, a Redditor compared it’s revenue to that of other giant video game developers and publishers, including Activision-Blizzard, Nintendo, Electronic Arts (EA), Take Two Interactive (T2), and more.

MiHoYo’s revenue in 2022 surpasses video game giants Electronic Arts, Sony PlayStation, and more

MiHoYo emerged as the undeniable leader in net profit, surpassing its competitors in the previous fiscal year. Net profit represents a company’s total revenue after deducting all expenses.

In a remarkable feat, miHoYo outperformed Electronic Arts by nearly threefold, with the latter earning a modest US$802 million in comparison according to Macrotrends.

With the launch of highly anticipated titles such as Horizon Forbidden West, God of War Ragnarok, and Gran Turismo 7, Sony’s PlayStation division amassed US$1.85 billion in net profit, a significantly lower figure when compared to HoYoverse’s impressive US$2.26 billion.

HoYoverse’s revenue also outshined other major players in the industry, including Activision-Blizzard, which recorded a net profit of US$1.858 billion, and Take Two Interactive, which faced a negative net profit of US$1.12 billion.

In a testament to its financial prowess, HoYoverse’s net profit in 2022 has propelled the video game company to a position of wealth surpassing that of legendary basketball player Michael Jordan. While Jordan’s net worth stands at US$2 billion in 2023, as reported by Forbes’ list of billionaires, HoYoverse’s remarkable earnings have now exceeded this iconic sports figure’s fortune.
