AD carry Samira in a solo lane? Believe it.

After all, innovative LPL pro player Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok has already been playing Aphelios and Syndra top for months on the Chinese Super Server, so adding top lane Samira wouldn’t be too far fetched.

In fact, four months ago, there were already rumblings that top lane Samira could work since her buffs in League of Legends patch 11.24.

She has since received even more buffs, and League of Legends patch 12.5 only makes top lane Samira even stronger.

Why top lane Samira (and possibly mid lane) is now a reality

Her Inferno Trigger ultimate not only costs no mana at all ranks, its cooldown has also been decreased from eight to five seconds. This means that the moment she starts Style stacking a second round, she’ll get access to her ultimate faster.

The cherry on top in this latest patch 12.5 is the buffs to her base stats, which of course aids her in bot, but more so in the top lane where many AD bruisers are played.

“You combine this with all the buffs she’s got previously and all the things that’s happening in top lane, maybe Samira’s actual lane isn’t at bot lane but maybe it does end up being top,” analyst and content creator Nick “LS” De Cesare said in his patch rundown.

Since Gwen, one of the best top lane champions in the current meta, got nerfed too, it only strengths the case for top lane Samira, who is likely to face the remaining meta champions like Jayce, Graves, and other bruisers.

In his patch 12.5 rundown, David “Phreak” Turley analyzed the numbers of her base stats, and showed that Samira is getting 5% more health at level 18, and 10% more physical durability at level 18, which is substantial.

He also argues that players should rush The Collector first instead of Mythic item Immortal Shieldbow.

“Just rush Collector. No ifs, ands, or buts,” stated Phreak. “Lifesteal is not as important as you think.. because you will spike and you will kill at level six.”

Will you be experimenting with top lane Samira in your ranked games?
