The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) is enhancing security at LoL Park for the rest of the LCK Summer 2023 playoffs and finals due to recent violence and threats.

Responding to disruptive incidents that occurred in early August in South Korea, the LCK has implemented a new set of protocols within its premises to prevent any disturbances.

Enhanced security initiatives by LCK promise a safer LCK Summer 2023 playoffs experience

Starting August 11, LoL Park will have upgraded security protocols.

Central to these upgrades is a more rigorous inspection of attendees’ belongings upon entry.

A dedicated team of security personnel has been enlisted to safeguard both the arena premises and the surrounding vicinity of LoL Park in Seoul, ensuring the safety of players and fans alike.

Complementing these measures, the esports arena has been equipped with cutting-edge emergency response equipment.

“The league has strengthened security inside and outside the stadium so that the players can concentrate on the game in a safe environment and the fans who come to the venue can cheer with peace of mind,” said LCK Secretary General Lee Jeong-hoon.

In early August, there has been a concerning rise in random stabbing incidents within Seoul’s city center. These incidents have been further compounded by the presence of anonymous online threats suggesting the potential for similar attacks.

This surge in threats and acts of violence stands out as highly uncommon in South Korea, a nation renowned for maintaining a notably low crime rate.
