Virtus Pro is wiping the slate clean, welcoming five new players to its Dota 2 team for the upcoming DPC 2023 season.
The Russian esports organization has signed Kamil “Koma’” Biktimirov, Ilya “squad1x” Kuvaldin, Evgeny “Noticed” Ignatenko, Oleg “sayuw” Kalenbet, and Andrey “Dukalis” Kuropatkin, a relatively unproven lineup compared to its previous rosters.
VP’s new group of youngsters will replace long-time players like Roman “RAMZES666” Kushnarev, Danil “gpk” Skutin, and Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin.
To make way for its brand new roster, VP benched gpk and DM, having earlier released Daniyal “yamich” Lazebnyy, Egor “Xakoda” Lipartiya, and RAMZES666.
Virtus Pro unveils all-new Dota 2 roster
VP brought in a new leadership team on October 28 to help with the organization’s roster rebuild, after the team failed to qualify for The International 2022.
VP’s new Head of Dota 2, Alexander “StrangeR” Solomonov, along with coach Timur “Ahilles” Kulmukhambetov, and team manager Ivan “4SV” Karpov assembled a squad that they’ve “tested over the past month.”
“It doesn’t have the big names that we’re used to,” said StrangeR in VP’s press release. “We chose players who are ready to give their 100 percent for the best results, constantly grow and develop, and can also listen and support each other. Surprisingly, we felt the synergy from this roster in the first test games they played together.”
VP’s new Dota 2 squad is a mix of players looking to climb up the DPC rankings. Koma, squad1x, and sayuw have mostly competed in non-DPC tournaments, while Dukalis spent two months on Alliance’s Dota 2 team last season.
The roster’s youth is notable, with four players aged 20 and younger. The team’s most accomplished and experienced player is Noticed, BetBoom Team’s offlaner who made his TI debut at The International 2022.
