Gambit Esports and Positive Guys are the latest teams to have qualified for the MDL Chengdu Major, which is set to take place on November 16-24 in China.

The top CIS Dota 2 teams competed valiantly to see who would make it to the first Valve Major of the new DPC season. The 10 teams were split into two groups, where they all had to play each other in a best-of-two round-robin format.

Somewhat surprisingly, both Gambit and Positive Guys were able to outperform the usually dominant CIS squads of Natus Vincere and Virtus Pro.

On the first day of the qualifiers, HellRaisers performed well, defeating Viet Flashbacks. They then tied with Ilya “Illidan” Pivcaev and Ivan “VANSKOR” Skorokhod’s Old but Gold (gOLD) stack.

On the following day of qualifiers for Group A, both gOLD and HellRaisers continued to perform well. HellRaisers were able to upset the new Virtus Pro roster, which went 4-4 record to finish the group stage.
