In episode eight, “Legends,” during the Fire Nation’s siege on the city, Katara once again asked him for permission to fight.

Initially about to refuse, he had a change of heart when he witnessed many women waterbenders of the tribe rallying behind Katara to aid in their defense.

After the water tribe’s victory, Pakku approached Katara once again, apologizing for his earlier actions and asking if she could become a teacher for the tribe.

However, she declined, stating that her mission requires her to focus on teaching Aang waterbending.
