The 2021 Wild Rift SEA Championship just concluded over the weekend. Vietnamese representative SBTC Esports won the title after defeating Team Secret 4-1 in the best-of-seven grand final.

As the last two teams standing at the 2021 Wild Rift SEA Championship, SBTC Esports and Team Secret are officially Southeast Asia’s representatives at the upcoming Wild Rift Horizon Cup, the game’s first international competition set to take place later in November.

Coming into the 2021 Wild Rift SEA Championship as the number one seed from the Vietnam region, fans had high expectations for SBTC Esports to do well.

The Icon Series SEA champion took the top spot in Group B, and and was given a bye to the upper bracket semifinals.

After a 3-2 victory over Team Secret in the semifinals, the Vietnamese representative went up against Group A’s top team, Buriram United Esports from Thailand, in the upper bracket final.

Buriram United Esports entered the match with confidence after getting two straight wins in a row to lead the series 2-0. However, SBTC Esports pulled off a spectacular comeback in the remaining three matches of the best-of-five series, and reverse swept the Thai representatives 3-2 to book their ticket to the grand final.

Meeting Team Secret, who climbed back up again from the lower bracket, SBTC Esports showcased superb micro and macro skills, overcoming the Philippine representatives 4-1.

By winning the 2021 SEA Championship, SBTC received a cash prize of USD$30,000, and will join Team Secret to represent Southeast Asia at the Wild Rift Horizon Cup.

Taking place from November 13 to 21, the Wild Rift Horizon Cup will be an offline event held at the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore.
