A total of seven champions were adjusted in League of Legends: Wild Rift patch 2.0a. The biggest nerf was made to Evelynn because of how effective she has been in the mid lane.

As an AP magic damage assassin, she has been so strong that even players who did not understand her abilities could excel on her. Almost like a throwback to the early days of League of Legends where Evelynn mid was also initially overpowered, Riot Games has since nerfed her wave clear capabilities.

First ability – Hate Spike

  • AP ratio reduced from 0.5 to 0.45
  • Mana increased from 25/30/35/40 to 30/35/40/45
  • Damage to minions decreased from 100% at all ranks to 35/40/45/50%

Most significantly, the damage dealt to minions from Hate Spike has been cut from 100% at all ranks to 35% at rank one. In addition, the cost of using this ability has increased, while its AP ratio has decreased.

Her original ability to wave clear for cheap unlocked her roaming power, which is what Eve’s entire kit is all about. With the nerfs, it looks like her time spent in the jungle will make more sense since her wave clear will no longer be comparable to conventional AP mages in mid.

The other change worth mentioning it the latest hotfix to Aurelion Sol. Riot is responding directly to his recent win rate spike. Funnily, balance lead Jonathan Chao wrote, “I don’t know how to word it. Basically he could zoom everywhere before, just not change directions. Now he can zoom everywhere and change directions. We are nerfing him so he can change directions but at a slower move speed.”

First ability – Starsurge

  • Bugfix: Aurelion Sol no longer gains 20% movement speed when Starsurge missile is fired

Third ability – Comet of Legend

  • Maximum passive move speed decreased from 40% to 20%

Aurelion Sol was gaining extra movement speed from an ability that should not have made him faster. Now that he can change directions while moving, it could open up more opportunities to enter into combat, and Riot has balanced it off by nerfing Comet of Legend’s max passive move speed.
