Valorant is officially going to Japan with VCT Masters Tokyo 2023.

The announcement was made during the ONE Pro Valorant Invitational, an off-season tournament where Riot Games hosted six show matches featuring five VCT-partnered teams.

Masters Tokyo will be one of the biggest Valorant LAN competitions of the year featuring the top-ranked teams from the inaugural International League splits.

Riot Games’ Esports Communications Lead Anton “JokrCantSpell” Ferraro said that Japan’s Valorant community has grown by leaps and bounds over the past twelve months, which was part of the reason why they chose this Masters location.

Zeta Division had an incredible lower bracket run at Masters Reykjavik, eliminating top-ranked squads including Team Liquid, DRX, and Paper Rex.

They finished in third place at Masters Reykjavik, the highest-ever placement for a Japanese team at an international Valorant LAN event.

Masters Tokyo will feature the top ten teams in the world. Three from each of the International Leagues, and the team that wins the VCT Lock/In event in Brazil, will earn their region an additional slot for Tokyo.

The top-performing teams at Masters Tokyo will secure early qualification for Valorant Champions 2023. After this Masters event in Japan, teams will have to win their respective Last Chance Qualifiers to compete in the Valorant World Championship at the end of the year.
