46-year old Filipina housewife Alma “Nanay Gaming” Enario wasn’t initially a fan of the online game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB). As a mother of three MLBB gamers, seeing her children play from day to night and get addicted to ML always stresses her out.

“Whenever I nag my kids to run errands or do house chores for me, they always reason out that their current match can’t be paused or canceled. So they convinced me to try playing Mobile Legends to understand their situation” said Nanay Gaming.

To find out what the hype is all about, she decided to ask her young ones to install the game on her phone.

“Quarantine made me do it! I also want to have shared interests with my children. Back then, I used to be mad at them for playing ML the whole day,” revealed Nanay Gaming to ONE Esports.

“One day, I saw my eldest streaming her game on Facebook with little to no viewers. I immediately thought, ‘What if I become a streamer?'”

Ganto si Nanay pag naglalive stream.

As a loving mother who just started streaming MLBB, Nanay Gaming became overwhelmed with all the initial support she received from the community.

Established Filipino streamers even helped her start out and enter the industry by providing her with basic equipment such as a gaming chair from Raven “L3bron” Alonzo and two new mobile phones from ArkAngel’s Olegna and GC “Sphinx Gaming” de Guia.

Maraming Salamat, anak Olegna ng ArkAngel .????

A hero in real life

Before becoming a streamer, Nanay Gaming was a simple housewife making puto (steamed rice cakes) and selling them for a living.

She is also a Property Consultant at a realty housing corporation. She has been trying to balance all this work to provide the needs of her family.

“I make sure that I’ve finished all the house chores before I do the live stream. I also remind my viewers that they should have eaten their lunch or dinner before playing Mobile Legends.”

Nanay Gaming

She calls her followers anak, the Filipino term for child which goes well with her username nanay which locally means “mother.” Nanay Gaming embodies our beloved Filipina moms — kind, thoughtful, and protective of her family, which is maybe why a lot of MLBB players found a mother figure in her.

From just being a mom of three, Nanay Gaming now has about 500,000 children supporting her in her new career.

Yehey! Konti na lang.

She only started last June on her page for Facebook Gaming and has accumulated a whopping 100,000 followers in less than a week.

“I don’t know what my secret is, I just know that I am able to impart happiness and joy whenever I stream. I feel the same with my viewers, they make me happy,” said Nanay Gaming. “I did not expect people would like me as a mom who streams and plays Mobile Legends.”

Despite having a rough start as a MLBB gamer, she is now Epic V and is slowly climbing her way up the game rankings.

“Whenever I play Mobile Legends, all my problems seem to go away,” said Nanay Gaming. “I also gain new friends and more anak when I play.”

Mobile Legends: A game for the whole family?

Nanay Gaming’s daughter, Reychel Enario, claims that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has made her and her whole family closer together.

“Nowadays, we’re so close to a point that the four of us would even invite each other and play a game or two before sleeping. That’s why we’re really thankful that mama plays Mobile Legends now,” said Reychel in an interview with local noon time show Eat Bulaga.

Nanay Gaming treats her three children as her protectors inside the game, asking for their protection and guidance against enemy heroes.

Her children also serve as her production team, taking care of her setup, video, and audio. Who would have thought streaming can also be a form of family quality time?

“To everyone who wants to start their own streaming channel, just keep on pursuing your dreams,” said Nanay Gaming.

“Playing Mobile Legends isn’t simple as ‘just playing’ — you’ll learn a lot like team work, trust among your teammates, and of course having fun while playing. There’s no age requirement when it comes to playing online games.”
