After failing to defend the crown in MPL ID Season 8, one of EVOS Legends’ stars may be switching to a different league.

EVOS Legends’ star Muhammad “Wannn” Ridwan will most likely suit up for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Development League Indonesia Season 5 (MDL Season 5) instead. MDL houses mostly up-and-coming talents looking to grow and hone their skills, so the move is a surprising twist for one of the most well-known EVOS Legends players in the league and a mainstay on the team since 2019.

Rumors quickly spread a month ago that the two-time MPL champion would be playing for EVOS Icon during MDL Season 5, only for him to respond with a non-committal answer.

“I will play in MDL? It seems like. I don’t want to take a break because I don’t want to disappoint the people who have supported me,” said the jungler on stream.

But Wannn confirmed the news on livestream recently, going into further detail about why he opted out of MPL to play for EVOS Icon instead.

“I can’t keep up in MPL with my current skills. I’m afraid that I will become a burden,” Wann said.

Wannn first made his mark in the Mobile Legends pro scene after giving EVOS Legends its first championship at MPL ID Season 4. The team continued its winning ways, taking first place at the inaugural M1 World Championship in 2019.

However, the White Tiger’s hot streak waned in the following seasons, prompting Wannn to take a break during MPL ID Season 7. That also happened to be the season where EVOS Legends took the championship once again.

Wannn returned the next season but failed to meet expectations after a disappointing third-place finish at MPL ID Season 8.
