Honkai Star Rail 3.4 banners signal the coming of a new Phainon and Fate Stay Night characters.
In the version 3.4 update, “For the Sun is Set to Die,” Phainon and the Trailblazer will stand at a crucial crossroads, potentially ushering in the Era Nova.
Players can also look forward to the debut of three new playable characters: Phainon, Saber, and Archer.
Each brings a unique background and combat style, adding depth and flair to the journey. The update also features a slate of limited-time events, feature optimizations, and fresh content, promising challenges and excitement across the galaxy.

In Version 3.4, players will journey deep into Aedes Elysiae with the Trailblazer, following Phainon’s path from his beginnings as a warrior, through his time with the Flame-Chase, to the present day.
In combat, Phainon accumulates Coreflames. Once enough are gathered, he can unleash his Ultimate to transform and create a “Territory,” significantly boosting his combat power.
While transformed, allies temporarily leave the field but their bonus effects persist. This transformation unlocks new abilities for Phainon, channeling the powers of Origination, Calamity, and the Foundation Titans.
Additionally, when Phainon is in your team, your Technique Point cap increases. His Technique can instantly defeat normal enemies within a certain range without initiating combat, making exploration much more efficient.

Special Collaboration Wrap: Fate Stay Night
Saber is a 5-star Wind-type character who follows the Path of Destruction.
Her Ultimate, “Excalibur,” deals massive Wind DMG to all enemies and transforms her Basic ATK into an enhanced, multi-target attack.
During combat, Saber accumulates “Core Resonance” through her Technique, Basic ATKs, or when allies use their Ultimates. Once she has enough, she immediately gains an extra action.
Using her Skill at this point consumes all Core Resonance, increases the Skill’s damage, and instantly refills the Energy needed for her Ultimate.
Archer is a Quantum-type character following the Path of the Hunt, specializing in sustained single-target damage through repeated Skill use.
When he activates his Skill and enters the “Circuit Connection” state, casting the Skill won’t end his turn; he can continue using it until all Skill Points are depleted, with each additional cast increasing the damage.
Upon using his Ultimate, Archer recites the classic chant to activate “Unlimited Blade Works,” unleashing a powerful strike against a single enemy and gaining Special Charge.
As the battle continues, whenever an ally attacks, Archer can consume this Charge to trigger a Follow-up ATK and restore 1 Skill Point for the team.

Collaboration banners in version 3.4 start running from July 11, 2025. As of the 3.4 livestream, there’s currently no planned end-date.
Starting July 11 and lasting until the end of Version 3.6, all Trailblazers who log in can claim the limited 5-star collaboration character, Archer, for free.

Silver Wolf, Blade, Kafka, and Jingliu are receiving substantial enhancements, including adjustments to battle mechanics and Eidolon effects.
Players will also be able to freely switch between classic and enhanced combat modes, allowing for flexible gameplay.
Additionally, Firefly’s brand-new outfit, Spring Missive, will debut in this update, offering a fresh look for the Stellaron Hunter.
What to expect in Honkai Star Rail 3.4 story
Picking up where the story left off, the Chrysos Heirs gave their all, racing against time to help the Trailblazer and Phainon return the final Coreflame to the Vortex of Genesis.
As the mysteries of Amphoreus unravel, it becomes clear that nothing was as simple as it seemed. What happens next extends far beyond a single world—the dawn of the Era Nova could ripple across the stars.
Ultimately, the Trailblazer’s choices might shape the very destiny of the universe.
In the upcoming main story, the long-awaited Phainon will finally join the Trailblazer’s team as a key ally. Born in Aedes Elysiae, he was among the first Chrysos Heirs to welcome the Trailblazer to Amphoreus.
Despite his calm and reliable demeanor, he carries the burden of great expectations, and has repeatedly stepped forward to protect others from mounting danger.
