Call of Duty Warzone’s most OP handgun, the Sykov, has finally been taken down a notch with a few substantial nerfs on its attachments.

While the Sykov is a standard handgun, players could turn it into a close-range bullet machine with the added attachments of Akimbo, the Sorokin 140mm Auto, and 80 Round Drums.

Proven to be an overpowering secondary gun, the developers released the first wave of nerfs on April 19 as an initial quick fix. The details were:

  • Sorokin 140mm Auto (Sykov)
    • Hip spread increased.
  • Akimbo (Sykov)
    • Movement speed reduced by 5%.
  • 80 Round Drums (Sykov)
    • Movement speed reduced by 5%.
    • ADS movement speed reduced by 7%.
  • When equipping the Sykov with the Sorokin 140mm Auto and the Akimbo attachment, damage is reduced by 25% and capped at a minimum of 19.

Even with the first update, players were skeptical if it made any difference in gameplay. Streamer Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar tried the gun combo out once more and stated that it still felt “busted”.

Just two days later, the developers doubled down on the gun loadout with two more nerfs on the Sykov’s damage output in the upcoming Season 3 update.

  • Sorokin 140mm Auto (Sykov)
    • Minimum damage reduced from 23 to 19.
  • Sorokin 140mm Auto AND Akimbo (Sykov)
    • Minimum damage reduced from 19 to 14.
      • This only affects the weapon when both the Sorokin 140mm Auto and the Akimbo attachment are equipped simultaneously.

“The Sykov, when equipped with any permutation of the Sorokin 140mm Auto has been far more lethal at range than we would prefer,” stated Activision and Raven Software. “When secondary weapons can go toe-to-toe with, or even best a primary weapon consistently, we risk streamlining access to one of the most powerful Perks in the game, Ghost.”
