After a bizarre series between Nexplay EVOS and Smart Omega in Week 7 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League PH Season 8 (MPL PH Season 8), the MPL PH Operating Committee has reached a consensus yesterday.

Nexplay EVOS and Smart Omega has been found guilty of breaching the tournament’s rules and regulations. Both organization will pay a US$3,000 fine.

What are the penalties imposed on Nexplay EVOS and Smart Omega in MPL PH Season 8?

Aside from Nexplay EVOS and Smart Omega having to pay a fine, some players from both organizations will also have to forfeit their eligibility in MPL PH Season 8’s personal awards selection.

These are the players who were penalized by the MPL PH Committee.

Nexplay EVOS’ Dogie will also be suspended in the next two matches and pay an additional US$500 fine for making a prohibited pose post-game.



MPL PH Operating Committee’s official statement

In a written statement posted on MPL Philippines’ Facebook page, the MPL PH Operating Committee wrote that what happened in game one and two of the series negatively affected the league and all the participating teams.

“We want to reinforce that competitive integrity is one of our core values as a league. Any team or player is subject to the rulebook and guidelines as stipulated within, and they must take full ownership and accountability of what they’ve done,” the statement read.

“We will continuously strive towards becoming one of, if not the best, MOBA esports leagues and we will not let these incidents dampen the joy of competing,” wrote Moonton.
