Oh dear.

It’s actually happening.

League of Legends patch 11.21 has made Teemo a legitimate choice at top lane, and possibly even at bot.

Teemo has received a series of buffs in Season 11, starting with patch 11.7 which increased the bonus attack speed of Guerrilla Warfare, and the on-hit damage of Toxic Shot, which was buffed a second time on 11.17. On patch 11.11, Move Quick’s cooldown was reduced.

In the latest update, Blinding Dart, his most defining ability, has finally been buffed after years of stagnation.

Q – Blinding Dart

  • Cooldown reduced from 8 to 7 seconds
  • Blind duration increased from 1.5/1.75/2.0/2.25/2.5 to 2.0/2.25/2.5/2.75/3 seconds
  • Missile speed increased from 1500 to 2500

First off, the blind duration that Teemo had at later ranks in the late game has now been pushed to rank one. This is massive.

Two full seconds of blindness in the early game, and three seconds in the late game — or even longer with cooldown reduction — is a pain that only top lane melee AD champions and AD carries know all too well.

Combined with the significant increase to Blinding Dart’s missile speed, and the fact that there are viable Ability Haste cooldown reduction builds for Teemo means even more pain.

“It makes AD Teemo better with this change,” commented Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek in a League of Legends patch 11.21 rundown video with analyst and T1 content creator, Nick “LS” De Cesare. “If you’re playing against Yasuo’s Wind Wall… now [the Yasuo player] has to be very fast to react into it.”

Previously, the most common Teemo build was Nashor’s Tooth into Liandry’s Anguish or Riftmaker. With these changes, LS believes he’ll be Ability Haste centric, which opens up new build paths and runes, including a potential Immortal Shieldbow and Navori Quickblades combo.

Whatever the case is, be prepared to see more Teemo in your ranked games… or not, since you’ll be perpetually blinded anyway.
