Supergiant’s Hades was a massive hit, and now the developer is gearing up to release the hotly-anticipated sequel. Here’s what we know about Hades 2 release date and technical test.
Hades 2 was first revealed at The Game Awards 2022 with an action-packed trailer. The short trailer confirmed that Zagreus will take the bench, and in his place, Melinoë will fight against Hecate, a Greek goddess.
The plot of the sequel doesn’t stray far as Melinoe is revealed to be Zagreus’ sister.

However, players still have many questions that are keeping them on the edge of their seats. Rest assured, Hades 2 is in the works and will be released in time.
When is the Hades 2 release date?
Hades 2 release date is currently unknown, but players will be able to get their hands on early access in Q2 2024, according to Supergiant.
The original version of Hades was released globally two years after its early access. If we follow this pattern, then Hades 2 should come out in the first quarter of 2025.
But fret not. Those who can’t wait to step into Melinoe’s shoes and dive into Underworld can sign up for a technical test.
How to sign up for Hades 2 technical test
Hades 2 is still years away from global release, but eager players can participate in the technical test. If you’d like to be considered for participation, follow these steps:
- Go to Hades’ Steam page
- Scroll until you find the green “Request Access” button
- Click on it and hope for the best
Signing up doesn’t warrant an entry into the Hades 2 technical test. This is an extremely exclusive testing stage, but if you’re lucky enough, you may gain an entry into the Underworld.
It’s worth noting that the technical test is limited to five successful fights against Hecate, Melinoë’s headmistress and trainer. This encounter takes place in the area of Erebus, which you can explore if you wish to prolong your stay in Hades 2.
Hades 2 technical test duration is currently unknown. Its early access release date will depend on how long the test runs, Supergiant has revealed.
