Talon Esports is going outside of Southeast Asia.

Andrii “ALWAYSWANNAFLY” Bondarenko’s is the latest addition to the organization’s Dota 2 roster. The 31-year-old, though announced just today, had already helped Talon through the Regional Qualifiers.

ALWAYSWANNAFLY is a veteran of the Eastern European Dota 2 scene, best known for his stints with Team Empire and the FlyToMoon stack that was picked up by Winstrike Team and Natus Vincere. Since leaving NAVI in May 2021, the Ukrainian has not been actively involved in the professional scene until this coaching position with Talon.

With ALWAYSWANNAFLY, Talon looks ready to conquer The International stage.

Though Talon came into the SEA Qualifiers as one of the favorites, their showing was no less impressive. The team didn’t drop a single game in three series against Lilgun, Polaris Esports, and T1. Their only real obstacle was Polaris in the final, and they dropped their only two games in the event against the Filipino team.

The win means Talon will qualify immediately to the group stage. Polaris Esports and T1 round out the rest of the region’s representatives, starting in the Last Chance Qualifier — where only two out of 12 teams will qualify for the main event.
