ESL has announced that they will be hosting the ESL Dota 2 SEA Championship, which will feature eight teams from Southeast Asia vying for the lion’s share of a US$20,000 prize pool and a direct berth to the region’s closed qualifiers for ESL One Birmingham 2020.
Four of the participating teams will be directly invited to the tournament, while the other four will have to qualify for the event through two separate online open qualifiers.
The first open qualifier will be on February 29 while the other will be on March 3. Interested teams may sign up here.
ESL will host the SEA Dota 2 Championships with an aim to create more opportunities for teams in the region and provide a direct connection between their regional and global events, most notably its Birmingham tournament in May.
ESL One Birmingham will feature 12 teams competing for a US$300,000 prize pool, with one Southeast Asian team getting a spot through the regional qualifiers.
ESL will also be hosting the ESL One Los Angeles Major in March, which will be the third Major event of the 2019-2020 Dota Pro Circuit.
