The stakes are high in Warzone 2.0’s new DMZ modesurvive until exfiltration, or lose everything you earned in the match. Unless you have insurance, that is.

Insured weapon slots let you recover guns even when you die, so you don’t lose them forever. Everyone starts off with one insured weapon slot, but you can earn up to three. When you die, insured slots will be put on a two-hour cooldown before you can use them again.

Here’s how to unlock more slots in DMZ and reduce the cooldown.

You’ll receive a small inventory of free contraband weapons when starting out, in addition to one insured weapon slot.

You can equip any weapon you have unlocked in the insured weapon slot, and you’ll be able to enter the Gunsmith to customize it the way you like. On the other hand, Gunsmith is not available for contraband weapons, so you will not be able to select your attachments.

Contraband weapons cannot be insured, but since acquiring a new contraband gun will unlock it, you can equip it directly in the insured slot.

To unlock additional insured slots, you’ll have to complete faction missions:

  • Insured Slot 2: Complete Tier 3 of every faction
  • Insured Slot 3: Complete Tier 5 of any faction

There are currently three factions in the game — Legion, White Lotus, and Black Mous. Legion is unlocked by default, but you will have to progress through its Tier 1 missions to access White Lotus. Black Mous comes last, and requires completing all Tier 2 missions for Legion and White Lotus.

If you’re killed in the DMZ, the two-hour cooldown can be reduced by extracting cash and valuables such as hard drives, watches, and laptops.
