The Netflix Pluto anime represents the inaugural animated rendition of Pluto, commemorating a significant milestone – 60 years since the debut of the first TV animation of Astro Boy.

This adaptation draws inspiration from the original manga by Naoki Urasawa and Takashi Nagasaki, itself based on Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy: The Greatest Robot on Earth arc, initially published in 1964 as part of the Astro Boy manga.

Spearheading the 8 episode production is Masao Maruyama, the founder of the MAPPA animation studio, and a key member of the original production team for Astro Boy.

The situation takes a startling twist as prominent humans connected to robot law begin to meet untimely deaths, with no apparent clues pointing to the perpetrator at the crime scenes. As Gesicht delves deeper into the investigation, he encounters Atom, an exceptionally advanced robot whose emotions and artificial intelligence force him to confront his own sense of self. United in their pursuit, they unravel a sinister conspiracy that threatens to end the world as they know it.
