The climax of Castlevania Nocturne takes place in the eighth episode, when the enigmatic Erzsebet undergoes a transformation, taking on the form of the Egyptian God Sekhmet. This transformation, achieved by consuming Sekhmet’s blood, elevates her power and instills even more fear among her vampire followers.

Sekhmet, in Egyptian mythology, is the goddess of war and medicine, the daughter of the god of light and the sun. By adopting Sekhmet’s form, Erzsebet solidifies her dominance over the world, establishing herself as the Devourer of Light.

Maria, the Abbot ‘s estranged daughter, becomes central to the unfolding drama. Held captive by night creatures loyal to the church leader, Maria’s dire situation is brought to the attention of Tera, Richter, and Annette by the religious knight Mizrak.

The trio rushes to the church to rescue Maria. There, they find Maria on the brink of being sacrificed by her father, the Abbot, who holds a knife. Tera intervenes forcefully, questioning why God didn’t choose someone else for this dreadful act. The Abbot’s tears betray his reluctance, but he feels trapped by circumstance. Tera makes it clear that the night creatures serve evil, not God. Richter defends Tera against attacking night creatures, allowing her to reach Maria.

Tera’s love for Maria compels her to prevent the sacrifice at any cost. Erzsebet, however, expresses a different intention — she desires to transform Maria into one of her own kind, offering eternal life. Tera, unable to accept this fate for her daughter, sacrifices her own mortality. She willingly allows Erzsebet to bite her, transforming Tera into a vampire herself rather than dying.

In a crucial moment, when Drolta, Erzsebet’s lieutenant, threatens Richter’s life, a surprising savior emerges. It is none other than Alucard, Dracula Tepes’ immortal son, who once fought alongside Trevor Belmont and Sypha against his own father three centuries earlier.

In the earlier Castlevania series of 2017, Dracula Tepes sought vengeance upon humanity after his wife was killed for her scientific pursuits. Alucard, recognizing that his mother would not have condoned this genocide, opposed his father’s brutal plan. In a pivotal showdown, Alucard joined forces with Trevor and Sypha to defeat Dracula. Afterward, Alucard seemingly disappeared from the world, becoming a mythical figure even to the future generations of the Belmont family.

Alucard’s return in Castlevania Nocturne is shrouded in mystery. His black-and-white palette and his chilling declaration, “I am Alucard,” send shivers down viewers’ spines. Only Richter was aware of Alucard’s existence, but even he had doubted it. The reappearance of this ancient and enigmatic character adds a new layer of intrigue to the series.
