Eiichiro Oda reveals ambition for One Piece Live action to win awards in Jump Festa 2023 message
During Jump Festa 2023, Eiichiro Oda conveyed his ambitions for the One Piece live action adaptation through a brief message, which was delivered by Mayumi Tanaka, the voice actor for Monkey D. Luffy.
“Can you imagine seeing a Japanese manga adaptation taking home an Emmy? Or even an Academy Award? If I can be completely honest, that’s my dream,” Oda said.
He expressed confidence in the global production teams dedicated to One Piece, alongside the remarkable Straw Hat crew cast, and hinted at their commitment to ensuring that these Hollywood stars shine brightly in the upcoming second season.
Notably, Iñaki Godoy, who portrays Luffy, and Jacob Romero, the actor for Usopp, were present in Jump Festa 2023 on December 17 in Chiba, Japan. During the event, they interacted with the voice actors from the One Piece anime.
