It’s written in the stars that Zoe is one of the most annoying champions to go against in the mid lane. She naturally pressures enemies in the early levels and instantly catches you flatfooted with her Portal Jump set-ups.

While it’s a painful experience to dodge Trouble Bubbles and Paddle Stars all game long, you can easily control the poke-heavy champion with the right character in play.

Here are the three best champions to counter Zoe, the Aspect of Twilight.

3. Galio

Galio flies in as a defensive champion against the cosmic champion.

The key to fighting Zoe with Galio is actually on the counterattack. After she uses her skills, Galio can use the Justice Punch + Winds of War + Shield of Durand combo to deal damage and hold Zoe in place.

Even if you’re wary of accidentally walking into a Sleepy Trouble Bubble, Galio still has a lot of defensive mechanics to mitigate the disable like Justice Punch’s dash and Shield of Durand’s damage reduction.

Seeing as how you’ll take a bulk of Zoe’s magic damage and disables as a tank, you can equip Galio with Mercury boots to get you through sleepy situations in the mid lane and skirmishes.

2. Syndra

Syndra is another viable counter to Zoe thanks to her long-ranged attacks and skills.

Syndra can use Zoe’s positioning as a way to deal some solid damage. While she’s setting up her skills, you can place a dark sphere on top of her or use Force of Will to hurl over a minion and hinder her movement.

At level 6, you can just continue the same agenda of gradually chipping her health down with your skills and if she doesn’t recall, you can go in for the kill with Unleashed Power.

1. Zed

Zed is one of the strongest counters to Zoe because his skillset allows you to move around Zoe’s early pokes.

When Zoe clears waves with Paddle Star, Zed can close in with Living Shadow and use Razor Shuriken and Shadow Slash to deal some quick damage and zone Zoe out.

At level 6, Zoe’s Portal Jump has got nothing on Zed’s incredibly useful Death Mark. You can dive in using the ultimate, utilize the same attack combo, retreat safely with Living Shadow, and watch Death Mark detonate after three seconds to finish Zoe off.

For items, Zed can equip Maw of Malmortius to have a good amount of attack damage and magic resist, and a magic damage shield that can sustain your offensive efforts.

Once you force Zoe to play defensively from such aggressive tactics, the initiative to push lanes and create space is pretty much in Zed’s hands.
