Mortal Kombat 11’s new competitive ranked mode, Kombat League, is officially here with the start of season one, the “Season of Blood.”

Each season will last approximately one month, and will let players compete against each other to climb through the ranks and earn exclusive in-game items.

Unlike MK11’s current online multiplayer mode, Kombat League features “optimized matchmaking that will ensure players are matched with opponents at or near their same skill level.”

There are nine ranks, starting with Apprentice and ending with Elder God. At the end of the season, players will earn cosmetic rewards based on the highest rank they achieved.

Each Kombat League season will be themed. The Season of Blood includes plenty of red character skins, as well as daily and seasonal challenges revolving around the red stuff — there’s a season-long challenge to spill 10,000 pints of blood — that will reward additional cosmetics.
