With registration for the biggest fighting games tournament of the year now closed, Evo President, Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar, has revealed the final entry numbers for each title.

Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is by far the most popular game, with a massive 3,492 entrants.

Way behind in second place was Street Fighter V, which saw another dip in participation, dropping from 2,484 last year to 1,929 this year.

Tekken 7 continues to grow in popularity, going from 1,538 in 2018 to 1,885 this year.

After missing last year’s tournament, Mortal Kombat is back at Evo. The latest entry in the series has a respectable 1,567 entrants.

The reason for Smash Bros. Ultimate’s overwhelming popularity might have something to do with Evo removing Smash Bros. Melee as an event. Last year, Melee had 1,351 competitors by itself.

Evo 2019 will take place from August 2-4 at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas.
