Tournament organizer, Beast of the East, has announced the cancellation of the Taipei Major for 2020.

The Taipei Major was set to take place in Taiwan and was part of the Capcom Pro Tour 2020. But due to health concerns with the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus outbreak, tournament organizers have been forced to cancel the event entirely. The Taipei Major will make its return next year instead.

Capcom has also announced that the Capcom Pro Tour points allocated for the Taipei Major will be removed from the tournament system. The Taipei Major is one of the 18 Ranking events of the season and would have awarded 300 CPT points for the first-place finisher, according to the 2020 CPT ruleset.

Fujimura “Fujimura” Atsushi won last year’s Taipei Major.

With more events being postponed or canceled due to the ongoing global health crisis, players participating in world circuits have the added pressure of performing well at the remaining events.
