Two Peruvian teams, Thunder Predator and Beastcoast, will represent South America at the Los Angeles Major.
TP had an almost perfect run to qualify for their first Major, while Beastcoast — who has been the consensus top team of South America — had to slug it out to earn their ticket to Los Angeles.
TP topped Group B of the qualifier’s group stage, dropping only one game to paiN Gaming who came in second in the group.
While Group B had a relatively straightforward outcome, things did not go as expected for the teams in Group A.
After the initial round of group stage matches for the group, Beastcoast, FURIA Esports, and Infamous were locked in a three-way tie for the two playoff spots for Group A. After a crazy series of tiebreakers that saw the three teams face off three times, Beastcoast and FURIA finally made it to the pllayoffs.
TP made short work of FURIA while Beastcoast defeated paiN to set up a clash between the two Peruvian teams for the first spot in the Major for South America.
TP were pegged as the underdogs against Beastcoast, considering their lack of achievements in the season so far in comparison to their opponents. However, TP secured their first Major appearance in Los Angeles by dominating Beastcoast, sealing the deal with a 21-minute victory in game two.

Despite their demoralizing loss to TP, Beastcoast still had one more chance to make it to the Major in a rematch against FURIA, a team they lost four out of five games to in the group stage.
Beastcoast got out of their apparent slump with a much-needed win in a 66-minute thriller in game one of their series against FURIA, following that up with a dominant showing in game two to book their ticket to Los Angeles.
TP and Beastcoast will be among the 16 teams vying for the lion’s share of a US$1,000,000 prize pool and 15,000 Dota Pro Circuit points in the Los Angeles Major in March.
