Activision is looking to shake up the meta with a big content update for Call of Duty Warzone.
While the battle royale adopts mechanics from Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Warzone Season 5 stands out, as it introduces the first perks exclusively made for Verdansk: Combat Scout and Tempered.
Combat Scout is a great intel perk coming in Call of Duty Warzone Season 5
Combat Scout is a useful intel perk that briefly highlights enemies in bright orange upon damaging them. It will also ping targets for your fellow squad members.
Similar to the Tracker intel perk that highlights enemy footprints, Combat Scout helps proactive players close in on quick engagements. If an enemy operator is sticking close to penetrable cover, Combat Scout will help you identify if your wall bangs are actually hitting the target.
While Combat Scout can be a killer addition in Solos, the perk is perfect for initiating squad flanks and setting up crossfires.
Tempered brings an innovative take on armor plates
With an array of weapons getting nerfed in Season 4, Tempered is another big update that shifts the focus off firepower, and into protection.
Tempered is a defensive perk that is will fundamentally change armor values in Warzone. Instead of three armor plates worth 50 points each, players with the Tempered effect can equip two armor plates worth 75 points each.
Though the points stay the same, Tempered allows operators to decrease their plating time and opt for reengagements with just one armor plate.
With tougher armor plates on the table, Warzone Season 5 will likely feature longer and more committed firefights. You can also expect that players won’t be as eager to chase down enemies without backup.
If you’re eyeing Tempered to be a part of your loadout, you’ll be using your Perk 2 slot, which is home to other top picks like Ghost and Overkill.
Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 will begin on August 12.
