Five years since they were founded in 2020, VCT Pacific powerhouse Paper Rex finally wins an international trophy at Masters Toronto.

The Singapore-based organization clinched victory in the grand finals by defeating EMEA top seed Fnatic 3-1 at the Enercare Centre in Toronto, Canada on June 22, 2025.

With this win, the VCT Pacific region secures three consecutive Masters titles—from Shanghai 2024 to this year’s Bangkok Masters and Toronto Masters.

Against Fnatic in the grand final, every set was a nail-biter, often going the distance, but Paper Rex held their focus during crucial moments to secure the win.

On the first map, after taking eight consecutive rounds starting from Round 5, PRX led 8-4. Although Fnatic came back to lead 10-9 in the second half, Jason “f0rsakeN” Susanto’s standout performance on Omen helped them close it out 13-11.

Map two was an intense back-and-forth that went to quadruple overtime, with PRX narrowly falling 15-17—but they didn’t lose their composure.

On the third map, Pearl, PRX trailed 5-7 in the first half. Nonetheless, they showcased exceptional teamwork on attack, dropping only three rounds in the second half and winning 13-10.

With the title within reach, Paper Rex stayed cool-headed. The fourth map Lotus went into overtime after 24 rounds. There, f0rsakeN once again delivered clutch plays in both overtime rounds with his sharp shooting on Omen, securing the win.

With that, Paper Rex claimed victory and lifted the trophy. They qualified for Masters Toronto as the Pacific Stage 1 third seed and didn’t drop a single match in the playoffs.

Even though Paper Rex had long been known as a dominant force in the Pacific region since the early days of Valorant esports, they had not captured an international title for the last five years—until now.

With this Masters Toronto victory, they have proven themselves to be among the world’s elite. What’s more, VCT Pacific has now produced three consecutive Masters champions: Gen.G at Masters Shanghai 2024, T1 at this year’s Masters Bangkok, and Paper Rex at Masters Toronto, showcasing the region’s growing global dominance.

2025 hasn’t been easy for the Paper Rex roster. Despite a strong performance in 2024 that allowed them to start in the second round of the winners’ bracket for VCT Kickoff 2025, Paper Rex lost 1-2 to T1 and dropped to the lower bracket.

There, they suffered a 0-2 defeat against DetonatioN FocusMe and were eliminated early.

Dropping into the Alpha group for Stage 1, Paper Rex was pushed to the brink, holding a 1-3 record at one point, nearly missing the playoffs altogether.

From the playoffs onward, Paper Rex began to regain their form. In the lower bracket Round 1, they defeated T1 2-1, then went on to beat both Boom Esports and DRX, finishing in the top three and securing a hard-earned ticket to Toronto.

Paper Rex began their campaign by defeating Team Heretics. Though they lost 0-2 to Gen.G in the next match, they bounced back by taking down Team Liquid and secured a spot in the playoffs.

With momentum building, Paper Rex began toppling powerhouses from other regions. In Round 1, they shut down Americas champion G2 Esports with a clean 2-0 win.

In Round 2, they completely dismantled Sentinels—the Americas second seed and two-time Masters champions. In the winners’ bracket final, they dominated Wolves Esports from China and booked a spot in the grand final.
