Set on the climate-ravaged world of Omega Earth, Corrode is a 5v5 map located in a French castle town repurposed as a radianite salt mining facility. It will enter the competitive map pool immediately upon launch.

It features two Spike Sites, a three lane layout, and layered defenses and fall-back positions. It’s been designed to “reduce overwhelming ability aggression,” Riot Games wrote.

You’ll notice medieval streets repurposed with industrial equipment and layered defenses perched
high above vast salt flats.

Design intent behind Valorant map Corrode

Corrode aims to tackle the issue of overwhelming Agent utility by emphasizing layered defenses on its three-lane tactical layout.

This design gives defenders more opportunities to hold sites against utility barrages and limits post-plant aggression from off-site.

While the sites are more complex, the mid-lane is intentionally simpler, offering crucial rotation options and making its control vital. The goal of Corrode is to reduce utility pressure, rewarding strategic planning and execution, Joey Simas, Valorant Lead Map Designer explained.

Corrode is the third map on Omega Earth, and it’s designed to showcase dramatic climate changes caused by First Light, Daniel McGowan, Valorant Senior Manager for Art Direction shared.

The surrounding waters have evaporated, revealing salt flats and generating radianite supercell storms. These storms drive salt crystallization across the map’s architecture, creating a distinct visual. The map’s design contrasts French castle architecture on one side with traditional village structures on the other.

Corrode also features an ambitious vista, including moving vehicles, an ATLAS carrier, and an active supercell storm on the horizon.

New Competitive approach starts in Act IV

To encourage players to learn the new Corrode map, it will be immediately available in Competitive Queue with the release of Patch 11.

For the first two weeks, players will experience 50% less RR loss for defeats on Corrode, while still earning 100% RR for victories.

This aims to facilitate map learning in a competitive environment without the usual fear of demotion, said Armand Asdourian, Valorant Game Product Manager.
