Mobile Legends: Bang Bang patch 1.5.08 will be looking to improve the player experience in terms of matchmaking and AFK compensation, on top of buffs and nerfs to a handful heroes.

Matchmaking mechanics

Moonton has received a lot of feedback that solo queue players have a relatively high chance of encountering a pre-made trio on the opposing team.

To lower players’ frustrations, they will be adjusting the matchmaking mechanics to significantly reduce the occurrence of unevenly matched games. Only duo and trio pre-made parties will be matched against other pre-made trios.

Also, the system will now evaluate players’ individual overall performance in four aspects: Level, win rate, medal points and rank, each of which have a different weightage on the final evaluation.

AFK compensation

AFK players have been a pain point of the gaming experience, and Moonton is looking to compensate affected players while punishing those who AFK.

For drafted matches, the first lost game of the week won’t cause players to lose a star if they have a team mate who AFKed who is not part of their pre-made party.

Whether win or lose, the allocated experience and Battle Points from the AFK player will be shared among remaining team mates as long as the player wasn’t part of their premade group.

Hero adjustments

Two key heroes were highlighted: Vale’s first skill, Wind Blade, will be optimized as a poking tool with increased continuous damage.

Secondly, Moonton will drastically reduce the cooldown of Ruby’s first skill, Be Good!, to boost her performance in longer team fights.

The most prominent nerf is targeted at the current meta powerhouse, Yu Zhong. He will receive decreased regeneration abilities and reduced damage on his ultimate, Black Dragon Form.

Ling, the hero with the highest mobility in MLBB, will also be nerfed so that players have a higher chance to strike back. Atlas too, will have the power of his combo lowered.

Luo Yi, Yi Sun-Shin, Natalia, Karina, Helcurt, Claude, Kaja, Uranus, Gatotkaca, Terizla, Kimmy, Esmeralda, Aldous and Alpha will be affected next patch, and we’ll have to wait for the full release to find out if they were given nerfs or buffs.
