League of Legends European Championship (LEC) representatives MAD Lions are on a roll after taking down the Turkish Championship League’s (TCL) Istanbul Wildcats on Day 2 of the 2021 Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) Group Stage.
The best-of-one match saw a close fight between the two teams. Despite breaking a sweat against the Wildcats, MAD Lions proved that they were the better felines this time around.

MAD Lions bot laner Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság told ONE Esports that he knew they would still win despite how shaky things were.
“A lot of bad stuff happened because we are used to a faster type of game,” Carzzy laughed.
“So there was more int-ing and playing bad because we were trying to force (it) so we’re not bored throughout the whole game. It’s bad mentality, but this is how we play.”
MSI fans witnessed a very strong start from the Lions, but every time they took a lead, the Wildcats would always catch up.

Carzzy admitted that Wildcats top laner Soner “StarScreen” Kaya’s Nocturne was the biggest problem they encountered during the game, since his ultimate ability Paranoia rendered them blind, which led to really chaotic fights for the LEC team.
“We tried to keep the comps calm and simple because we knew that we cannot do complex rotations like we usually do,” said Carzzy. “We just tried to end by looking for good teamfights. Luckily, it worked out.”
Kai’Sa is still viable in the current meta, says Carzzy
This MAD Lions and Istanbul Wildcats game was the eighth time Kai’Sa has been picked since MSI 2021 started — even though the void champion is categorized as a non-meta pick according to T1 content creator and analyst Nick “LS” De Cesare‘s MSI tier list.
LS ranked Kai’Sa at the bottom of his list and has put Kog’Maw and Varus on top.
“I kinda disagree with his tier list, to be honest. I play what I feel like is the strongest at the moment and I think that Kai’Sa is pretty strong, and other teams also think so too,” the 19-year old Czech player voiced out.
Additionally, Carzzy believes the MSI 2021 jungle meta has been set already, but for the rest of the roles, the meta can still shift.
When asked how he would rate his performance for this game, Carzzy gave himself a seven out of ten, and a five for MAD Lions’ collaborative effort.
“The team would be a five, maybe even less. I don’t want to say we choked or anything, we just played bad today,” said Carzzy.
