Superstar AD carry, Jian “Uzi” Zi-Hao, will not be competing with Royal Never Give Up for the 2020 LPL Summer Split.
His name was excluded from RNG’s official roster, which listed Lu “Betty” Yu-Hung as the sole bot laner.
Based on Riot Games’ official contract database, his contract with RNG expired at the end of April.
Even though Uzi was part of the roster for Spring, he did not play a single game. Instead, he has been live streaming and outputting content on his social media channels.
Recently, he changed his IGN to “ggggggmeile” on his account on the Korean server. In Mandarin, “meile” means no more, which led fans to speculate that he is heading for retirement.
Uzi’s struggle with physical health has been well documented over the years. Experiencing back and arm pain, he shared in the NIKE LPL documentary last September that “the doctor said my arms are 40 to 50 years old”.
In the same video, he also said that “sometimes it feels like my arm is retired already”.
At the age of 23, Uzi has been competing professionally since 2014. He came closest to winning Worlds twice in Season 3 and 4, where he lost to SK Telecom T1 and Samsung White in the final.
Currently, his social media handles are still branded RNG, with new video uploads on his YouTube channel.
